Install iPhone 3.0 Gold Master from Your Mac

If you cannot wait the official upgrade next week like me. Here is how to install the iPhone 3.0 Gold Master on your iPhone 3G:

1. Download 3.0 firmware from here
2. Make sure you have the latest iTunes installed
3. Backup your iPhone by synching it as usual
4. There are 2 ways to deal with the upgrade. Complete Install or Upgrade
5. Since Complete Install will take F O R E V E R, I would choose the Upgrade path
6. Holding down the Option keyboard button while clicking on the Check for Update button on iTunes
7. Choose the downloaded firmware file and wait. After a couple minutes, your new iPhone 3.0 is ready to go!!!
8. In case you want to do a clean install just like when you do the Windows or OS X upgrade. Instead of clicking on the “Check for Upgrade” button, you click on the “Restore” button
